SEARCHING FOR THE THRILL OF IT

Feel so lucky every time I get to go skiing, the views you get to see blow my mind. Gotta be tricky when taking pictures though, my bare hands freezing as I'm snapping shots on chair lifts and at the peak, pausing mid-ski just in time to catch that sun filtering through the trees ever so perfectly. Living in ski gear, the token red plaid shirt I always bring to Whistler, and my new native sweater.

AND I CAN'T FALL ASLEEP WITHOUT A LITTLE HELP

Shirts: Gap, Necklace: American Eagle

The National and Death From Above 1979 concerts taking my mind off things. And lately I've been wearing the same shirt every day that I bought in three different colours, just so damn comfy. Sometimes simple is best.

OH THIS FEELING IS WONDERFUL, DON'T YOU EVER TURN IT OFF

Backlog of photos from Seattle and school, Christmas decorations, and one really bright blue dress.

ALL I WANNA KNOW IS HOW FAR YOU WANNA GO

Kings of Leon concert last night, a nice mid-week break from reality although waking up at 5:20am was a bit harder than usual this morning. Also a nice break from school-teacher-fashion-reality to wear a sequined mini skirt with shiny red heels.

IT REMINDED ME TWICE THAT I WAS ALIVE

Perhaps one of the most perfect days of summer yesterday. A morning hike up The Chief, an afternoon swim at Brohm Lake, and an evening of junk food and watching tv on my computer, all with some amazing people. Not sure why I was so bent on getting out of the city for the long weekend, thinking back to Québec and Toronto and New York, camping in the States and laying on the dock in Osoyoos, did a million things this summer but none of them involved my hometown. Seems quite right that the end of an unforgettable two-month holiday is spent in Vancouver.

I DON'T MIND THIS WASTED, SHADED DAYLIGHT

Blouse: Gap, Shorts: Hollister, Sandals: Old Navy, Shades: Ray Ban, Bag: Coach

Always thankful for sunny day. Enjoying the last few days and nights before school starts, even a walk around the seawall seems a luxury. Funny how as soon as September begins in Vancouver, there is just a little chill in the air. Won't be long before I can't wear sheer blouses like this without something overtop, or underneath...

I THROW MY HANDS UP IN THE AIR SOMETIMES

Dress: Adidas, Shoes: Banana Republic, Bag: Kate Spade, Shades: Ray Ban

Think the PNE could be used as good lesson-learnings in class. Like these: Don't eat a corndog before going on the flippy rides. Don't try to take pictures on the fast rides. Don't leave your purse behind. Don't leave a friend behind. Don't choose the squishy side on a ride if you're the littlest person. Don't try to eat more than ten mini donuts. Don't budge in line (not my lesson learned, I'd never do that! But saw four other people get kicked outta the park because they cut in line for the Atmos-fear ride, just don't do it kids). Don't worry about your hair or makeup or how silly you look when you scream on a scary ride. And, have fun.

MY HEART KEEPS BEATING LIKE A HAMMER

Great thing about music festivals is what you listen to and what happens to you that always makes up an experience unlike any other, maybe the same festival you went to last year but not the same. Metric and John Butler Trio and Girl Talk and The Stars and Brasstronaut and Portage & Main. And the people you chill with, the beer garden on a hot afternoon, games of cards and crib and Apples to Apples, the upgrade to the honeymoon suite at our cheap hotel, the attire of other festival-goers, the dancing and cheering and singing-along, the music so loud that I thought it couldn't get any louder and then it did, the late-night McDonalds and the late-night talks of our favourite songs on the walk home, the perfect weather the whole weekend.
