Lived in this sweater for the weekend. Not your typical native sweater, but for some reason I was drawn to the bright pink colour, which is highly unusual because my closet boasts no pink clothes at all. New Year, new things to try.

Finally. Leather pants. Finding they go with everything in my wardrobe. I wonder if my students will notice if I wear them every day this week...

Sometimes I dream up art projects and they don't always turn out how I imagined them. At first looking a bit like that freaky symbol from The Blair Witch Project. But eventually, snowflakes made from sticks, painted and glittered, strung up near the winter doilies and Christmas lights, glistening in the late afternoon sun, can't believe how patient and detail-specific my kids were, taking the utmost care in arranging each tiny sequin onto each delicate little branch.

One long family brunch followed by an even longer trip to Ikea to help my brother find a dresser for his closet. Spent four hours organizing his wardrobe. And I thought I had a lot of clothes.

Guilty as charged, I often use outfit reruns if I find one I really like. Thought this might be a good outfit for meeting the bf's mom tomorrow night. Asked my parents today what they thought as we got coffee and walked along Robson St, dad said it looked professional and mom gave me heck for wearing black socks with blue pants.

Cold weather just crept right into Vancouver over the past few days, walking out of my apartment to be blasted by chilled air, time for all those heavy sweaters to come down from the top shelf of my closet.

The girl working at the shu uemura counter in Holt Renfrew told me, "these ones aren't as fancy as some of the other ones, like, you could wear these every day to work". Pretttty sure I'll just settle for Halloween.

Wish all weekends could be three-day weekends, one extra day of guilt-free laziness because you've already packed full your other two weekend days. Heard today that Vancouver will experience one of the coldest winters in the past twenty years, not sure how long I can hold onto this outfit of linen shorts and a trench coat but I'm gonna leave it til the last possible minute to be forced by the weather to wear tights...

Going to go for it and say that October is maybe my favourite month. Feels like a change in the air, the weather, the town. Crisp nights and dark mornings, time to turn the heat on and start wearing toques and scarves. Have got a little bit of a trend going on right now, seems like I'm buying a whole lot of stuff in purple lately, that kind of harvesty purple like maroon and burgandy and plum mixed together. This floor-length long-sleeve skin-tight dress feels a little Halloween-y, but it actually called my name when I saw it so I couldn't resist...

Always thankful for sunny day. Enjoying the last few days and nights before school starts, even a walk around the seawall seems a luxury. Funny how as soon as September begins in Vancouver, there is just a little chill in the air. Won't be long before I can't wear sheer blouses like this without something overtop, or underneath...

THE WHOLE ROOM JUST TURNED YELLOW

Resisting the urge to back-to-school shop, sifting through the clothes in my closet. Sometimes it just takes a lil inspiration to coordinate what you got. Prevents wardrobe miscommunications, like buying the same shirt you already own in a different colour... oops. Truth be told, Fall is my favourite season because you get to layer layer layer all your rad clothes and come up with some wild combinations. Like mixing furs and sequins and stripes, big sweaters and maxi skirts and leather jackets, oh my. And this whole heels-with-socks thing I dig too.
